GPS School Year Off to a Smooth Start

School began this morning for students in Guthrie. This morning the entire central office administrative team toured all buildings.
According to Dr. Mike Simpson, Superintendent of Schools, “Overall, we are very pleased with how this morning went. Starting the “senior drive” earlier seemed to make the traffic smoother than in past years. With the number of parents dropping off their child on the first day, traffic will always be an issue. We have also experienced some air conditioning issues at the Upper Elementary due in part to a power outage last night. The system now appears to be functioning normally. I was very impressed with our teachers and staff as they were providing orientation to our students.”
