Melanie Ball's Home Page

I have been teaching in Guthrie for 24 years and have 27 total years’ experience. I have my Masters in Education with special certification in reading. I am married to Jeff Ball, he is the principal at Guthrie Upper Elementary. We have a daughter, Abigail, who is in her last semester at UCO. We also have a son and daughter in law, Tanner and Sara, who are both Guthrie Graduates. They live in Edmond and Sara teaches Kindergarten at Central Elementary.

I create a safe environment for my students.  I lead activities that promote cooperation, respect (for each other and themselves), and hopefully build their self-esteem.  I look for strengths in all students and encourage everyone to participate, ask questions, and attempt difficult tasks.  Mistakes are treated as important lessons and hopefully they will learn from them.
