Educational Information: I graduated from UCO with a certification to teach special education and then later obtained my certification in mathematics after my transfer to Guthrie High School.
My teaching career started in Guthrie in a variety of positions.
* Guthrie's Cotteral Elementary (August 2002 - May 2007) - taught 3 years - 1st grade developmentally delayed
students.
* Guthrie High School (August 2007 - 2015) -
- (August 2007 - May 2008) Co-taught in Algebra classes, Algebra 1 and Geometry Lab Classes In 2007
- (August 2008 - May 2011) Math of Finance and Algebra 1 Remediation
- (August 2011- May 2015) Algebra 2
* Guthrie Upper Elementary (August 2015 - May 2021) 6th grade mathematics
* Guthrie High School (August 2021 - Current) Advisor and math instructor for Faver Alternative School and
Bluejay Academy.
There wasn't a job I have not enjoy while teaching in Guthrie. From watching students learn basic life/school skills (walking, speaking, writing, cutting, etc.) to have the ah-ha moments from Algebra 2 students who finally understood a confused or unknown math concept. My move to 6th grade was based on trying to help students understand the concepts while transferring from concrete math to abstract math.
