It is a pleasure to begin my first year at Charter Oak Elementary School as Principal.  My love for education began in 2003 when I began my first teaching job as a 4th grade teacher in Terrell, Texas.  After two wonderful years, I made my way back to Oklahoma and was hired on by Guthrie Public Schools in 2005 as a 4th grade teacher.  

Over the past 20 years, I have been in various roles as a teacher and administrator. My experience in education includes:  4 years as Assistant Principal of Guthrie Upper Elementary School, 8 years as a 4th Grade Classroom Teacher, 1 year as a 1st Grade Reading Interventionist, 2 years as 6th Grade Math and Reading Interventionist, 2 years as the GUES Instructional Coach, and 3 years as 4th & 5th grade Math Interventionist.  

One thing is for sure, after all of those years I have interacted with many Guthrie youth.  It has been a great experience to cultivate social, academic, and emotional growth for many children.  One of my favorite things about living in our community is when I see current or past students when out and about in Guthrie.  I am thankful for all of my past students and the bond we created and look forward to building new ones with the students of Charter Oak.

I am excited for this school year! Each day, I will aim to support all students, educators, and parents/guardians.  I appreciate our community and businesses for their loyalty in volunteering and financially backing our school through the various initiatives we pursue. Our school district has one of the most supportive Administration and School Board.  Together we make Charter Oak Elementary the best!

Lastly, I want to say I appreciate the love and support of my husband, John and our three children; Kenneth-20 (GHS Class of 2023), Elizabeth-18 (GHS Class of 2023), and Clayton-15, GHS Sophomore.
