My name is Cara Henson. This is my 16th year as a teacher. I taught First Grade for 6 years at Central Elementary, Kindergarten for 4 years at Cotteral, and this is my 6th year teaching Pre-K at Cotteral. I married my husband Dave in June of 2008, in 2010 we had our son Dane, he is 13 and attends school at Guthrie Jr. High. I also have 3 amazing bonus-kids, Brandon-25, Maycie-24, Riley-23. We have 3 grandkids that live in Alaska, and 1 granddaughter that lives in Guthrie with us. We are such a close family and I couldn't imagine my life without them. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was growing up, but I had no desire to go to college. Thankfully after I graduated from Guthrie High School in 2000 I received at full time job with the local Early Head Start program. I really enjoyed taking care of babies and young children. After about 6 months of working there, I was given the opportunity to receive my Associates degree in Child Development. Once I received that degree, I decided to continue my education and eventually graduated in December 2007 with my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am so thankful I took the steps to get my teaching degree, it has been the most rewarding job and I love that so many young children get to see someone different like me each and every day. I think it is so important for children to know that everyone is made different and this world would be a boring place if we all looked exactly alike.
