Mrs. Gates Home page

             My name is Susan Gates and I am honored to be your child’s 7th and 8th grade Math teacher.  My passion in teaching is helping students achieve light bulb moments. It is amazing to watch students understand what they learn.  I am excited to be at the Guthrie Junior High School. I want to bring my passion for helping students understand math and apply it to other aspects of life.    My goal is to partner with you throughout this journey in helping your child to become all they have been called to be.

            I graduated from St. Gregory's University in Shawnee with a Bachelors of Business in May 2010. After graduating with my bachelor's degree, I went to Oklahoma Christian University. I graduated in April 2012 with a Master's of Business Administration with an emphasis in International Business and Marketing.   

            Before becoming a teacher, I spent 7 years doing accounting and bookkeeping for a civil engineering firm, a life insurance, and a local crane company. I started teaching in 2017. For four years, I taught 2nd grade and 4th grade math. In 2021, I moved to Edmond and taught 5th grade science and writing. This is my second year at Guthrie Junior High. I am aslo the assistant Volleyball coach. I am so excited and honored to be here.
